Finding yourself through travel
TRAVEL Because you have no idea who you are until you experience yourself through different people and realize how we’re all the SAME. I found this quote on Instagram recently and wow it really resonated with me. I thought it would be an interesting topic to blog about because travel really does show you who you truly are. Before we embarked on this year I wouldn’t exactly have called myself an avid traveller. Yes, I had visited a handful of cities, but it didn’t in any way prepare me for this year. Peter and I had decided…
A love letter to Bali
The whole experience from my time in Bali really hit me in the last few days of our stay. I’ve never quite had that happen to me before when leaving a city — I felt torn and somewhat sad. It wasn’t that I wanted to stay forever, but I also wasn’t so sure I wanted to leave just yet. That was when I realised Bali had broken me down…not in a bad way but rather in the best possible way imaginable. It gave me a few life reminders that shattered my preconceived notions of parenting, adulting and just doing life in general. Here’s…
Relationship struggles on the road
The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them. ~ Author Unknown I truly feel that relationships of any kind, need consistent nurturing whether it’s a friendship, romantic or even a working relationship. You need to be consistently meeting one another’s needs and thus communication is key for these relationships to function well. This doubles in importance when that relationship must stand the test of travel (I of course am speaking from personal experience here). I am by no means a…
How travel has transformed me…….
So, it’s been a while…I must say that I lost a bit of my blogging juju so to speak when we hit London 4 months ago. We were visiting family and friends and to be honest I hit a little bit of a slump in turns of pro activity. I went a bit into holiday mode and haven’t left it since. I think the art of relaxation hit me in Greece and I’ve finally started to kick back, read books and watch T.V. I think this could be my future profession……now if only I could make money whilst watching “Keeping Up with The Kardashians” …. So,…
A look back at our Centre Parcs fun In Suffolk, London
After our first week in London we were off the Elveden Forest in Centre Parcs, Suffolk. After the train ride there, I was ready for a drink on arrival (3 kids, 4 adults in the hustle and bustle of a London tube and train – you can imagine the fun). No such luck though as we were greeted by a mountain of kids everywhere. Granted Centre Parcs is a holiday destination for Londoners mainly centred around kids and families, I wasn’t quite expecting the business of it all. I was quite impressed with the grounds though. Our cabin…
Arriving in London Town
People may think that travelling the world might be easy and completely relaxing but I am finding myself without energy and mentally exhausted. The past two weeks we found ourselves spending a few days in Seattle and a few days in New York before landing in London Town. Seattle and New York were such whirlwinds and amazing cities to visit but we really pushed ourselves in terms of activities. We are now gratefully staying with Peter’s sister and husband in their home in Bromley, London. We also find ourselves with childcare…
More road tripping adventures….
This week we have found ourselves finishing up in the Grand Canyon and then moving on to Mojave National Park and San Francisco. All have been amazing experiences. We have gotten to feel both the stillness of the desert and then the hustle and bustle of the city. As described in my last blog, we have really gotten back to the simple things in life again. We are buying and cooking food from day to day and just having loads of family time. Peter and I have found ourselves in really proximity, and I don’t think we have ever…
Getting back to nature and the simple things in life
Leaving L.A. was difficult for me as I had just started to feel comfy again in my surroundings and as strange as it sounds I felt a sense of inner peace and relaxation in our air bnb and I have no doubt that being around Jude had a positive effect on me. Jude and his wife Melissa even asked us to stay on at the air bnb for a while longer should we wish, however we already had a two-week R.V trip planned out and we were all looking forward to it, so we said our goodbyes and headed on. We picked up our R.V rental (a Winnebago)…
